I was given the chance through SweatPink and Manitoba Harvest to try Hemp Hearts. I’d had hemp seeds in smoothies before, but I’m not sure I had actually tried Hemp Hearts before. My favorite things are salty and savory, more than sweet. I had thrown hemp seeds in my smoothies before, for the extra omegas and protein. Hemp Hearts pack 10 grams of protein and 10 grams of omegas per a 30 gram serving! Believe it or not, Hemp Hearts are actually lower in carbs than flax seeds or chia seeds. They are also raw and vegan! They are just so easy to add to things you already love, to make them even more awesome and healthier! Add them to smoothies, yogurt, salad, cookies, muffins, you get the idea. I added them to PUMPKIN muffins: ![]() And yogurt parfaits... ![]() And PUMPKIN smoothies... And for something different, added them to my favorite peanut butter energy balls! Their flavor is pretty mellow. Not overly “nutty” and not sweet. Just wholesome goodness.

![]() Signing up for a marathon/half marathon is a big commitment by itself. The moment you hit click you sometimes gulp at the thought of all the training that is involved and it can seem like a very daunting task. The other day I received an email from St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital asking if I wanted to be one of “St. Jude’s Heroes” - basically raise money for St. Jude’s while I train for Rock n Roll Arizona. I was already signed up and paid (committed to the race), but something clicked. I realized I could make the extra effort to fundraise and potentially help families get medical help for their kids. I know what it’s like to have a child with medical needs and lots of bills. However, we are fortunate to have excellent insurance and it has not been a burden. No family ever receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food at St. Judes — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. It costs $2 million a day to operate St. Jude. 70% of the funds come from the public. That means your donation, no matter what the size, will help! The race is less than 12 weeks away! If you are interested in helping me reach my fundraising goal of $500, Please visit my fundraising page. Every little bit helps! Even if it’s just $5 you would spend on your morning latte.
Thank you! "Disclaimer: I received a pair of Ironman low cut Wigwam Socks to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!" Once I became a real distance runner, I figured out pretty quickly that it was important to have “technical” socks. Moisture wicking became a crucial function that a sock needed to have in order for me to buy it. All that being said, I didn’t pay top dollar for good well-known brands of socks. I tend to buy them in the sporting dept and my favorite dept store in packages of 3. And wouldn’t you know it? Most of my socks get holes in them pretty quickly. I run every single day so they are getting a lot of wear! I was given the chance to put Wigwam Socks to the test. They are low cut (exactly the style that I like) and had the following other features:
My first outing in my Wigwam socks was to go trail running. It was over an hour of solid climbing up, skipping down, balancing precariously on rocks. They held up great – no blisters! My second outing was in a half marathon in the Chicago area. 2 hours of pounding. No blisters! I also took them out for spin with my fellow BibRavePro @runblogaz. We did a run around the lake and it was getting warm and sweaty. Everything stayed dry. A lot of the socks I buy seem like they run a little small. These are cut well, just enough shows above your shoes, but you have enough coverage. Overall, I feel like these socks are tough enough to take a beating, but soft and comfy enough to become your favorite pair! DISCOUNT ALERT!!
