For those of you who have ran a marathon before, you know that 26.2 is a lot of miles. It's not to be taken lightly, and it deserves a lot of respect! I've been staying in the half marathon training zone for the last 8 years, since my son was born. I do 3-4 half marathons a year. I haven't tackled 26.2 since 2006. I ran 9 marathons, which is an odd number just begging to be rounded off to 10. I always said that #10 would have to be someplace spectacular. Somewhere like Hawaii, Europe, etc. Since I became more active on Twitter, I was talking to a friend (shoutout to @jennvoss) and since we are both originally from Michigan, we agreed to both do the Detroit Marathon together. What? Detroit? That's not some exotic locale! Huh? Well, I gave in since it allowed me the chance to visit family while I am there. Now for the real problem...I live in Arizona where the summers are hell. I'm supposed to do the bulk of my long run training in July, August and September. since Detroit Marathon is in mid-October. What the hell was I thinking? I'm trying to take myself back to a place where I trained regularly for marathons and remind myself that I CAN do this. I'll keep you posted along my journey, and appreciate any support you can offer! Wish me luck!
