As a former airline employee, it was ingrained in me not to check a bag, unless absolutely necessary. I thrive on traveling light and not dealing with baggage claim. However, there are a few times a year when it becomes necessary – like my annual family vacation.

Ok, now it was time to put it to the test. I added a 20 pound dumbbell to my suitcase. First I weighed my bag on my regular eat smart bathroom scale for accuracy. Them I secured the SmartGrip handle on it and lifted. Within seconds, the weight popped up on the screen. The two weights were in a few ounces of each other.
